Stitch night

Tonight I got together with some friends after work at a coworker’s house.  The main goal was to hem a prom dress but I brought along some stitching and finally put a few more stitches in “My Stitching Treasures”.

It’s not much to show but I finished up the heart motif which is over one and then I started the Bargello block on the bottom left which goes much faster than over one stitching 🙂

Getting psyched for Celebrations this coming weekend!  3 full days of stitching stitching stitching!

It’s friday already!

This week really passed by quickly, that tends to happen when we work a lot though.  Even though I haven’t had any time to work on the house this week I’m hoping to get the new demo’d area vacuumed some time this weekend so we can move the tools in and start using that area again.

Last night I managed a little sewing, got a dress hemmed for my sister and even fondled a little quilting fabric (if only i had some more time to play)!

I’d like to have one day a week that I do something for myself, sewing or crafting of some sort.  Eventually I’ll get there.  I think I need to get to a better place with work first however, it’s a bit  hard finding me time when I work such long hours.  Speaking of work, I forgot I needed to log on to do something quick tonight – then it’s time to watch Bones (we missed it last night)!

We bought a truck

And we worked on the house 🙂
Saturday we got the first real coat on the seams (walls only) completed and the third coat on the screws (walls only).  Then we did the left side first coat of the corners.

Sunday I did the right side of the corners and some cleanup (as well as finally dusting and vacuuming the WHOLE house – which was very much needed!)

The rest of saturday was spent out shopping for a new truck (trading in the BMW).  We were actually going to buy a 2009 and had a few picked out but with 30,000 miles usually on them it was smarter to go with the new tuck – no miles – for only 1000 more.  We bought a 2010 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport in Silver.  It’s a 4 door (double cab) with an extended bed.  We should be able to even pick it up tonight!
: We picked up the truck Monday night and here’s a picture from Tuesday as it’s warming up!

Halloween Costumes

This weekend there was no progress made on the house (unless you count buying paint). Ryan came home friday with a nasty cold so he was down for the count for the weekend.

I spent all day (and all night almost) working on halloween costumes. I had finished the first costume – the Devil for Georgia (hey “Devil went down to Georgia” is my favorite song!) – during the week (minus some hand sewing) so it was on to the genie costumes. On Saturday I was able to get both pants done and a decent start on both tops.

Sunday I spent the day with Sarah (for her birthday) and then came home to finish the genie tops. That left hand sewing only for Monday night and the genie hair pieces Tuesday night. They are now officially completed and the girls are coming over this week to pick them up.

A Stitching Weekend in Maine

I just got back from a 3 day vacation in Maine with Sarah.  The 3 days included the drive up and back which is significant (just over 4 hours) but we got a lot of stitching done.  We decided to continue the tradition of stitching on Celtic Banner which we started together in Maine 4 years ago.

Progress was definitely made!
This is the picture I took after stitching Sunday and Monday:Celtic Banner progress 1
And this is after stitching on Tuesday:
Celtic Banner progress 2
The piece is getting very long and it’s hard to show much of it since it is on scroll rods but it is 4 pages long and we are more than halfway through page 3!

While stitching we listened to Storm Glass by Maria V. Snyder (Glass series book 1).  This is the same author (and many of the same characters) as a long time favorite of ours the Study Series.  While the story was very interesting the reader was very distracting, mis-pronouncing almost every pronoun which was beyond frustrating.  I was however motivated to go back to the Study series directly after and I’m happily more than halfway done with the first book in that series again.
